Small publisher in Central Europe achieves world success

Rak Budmerice Publishing House specialises in historical literature. It has been in business since 1991, publishing voluminous scientific monographs, original authentic sources (medieval chronicles and legends) and highly successful non-fiction works. Rak Publishing house originated as a “one-man publishing house” but was soon attracting top writers, historians and other experts to work for it. The textual quality and design has won it a strong position on the book market commercially; even challenging scientific literature is sold in large numbers. Rak Publishing House’s books annually make it among the Most Beautiful Books of Slovakia. The medieval Chronicle of the Anonymous Notary of King Bela received the UNESCO prize in the Most Beautiful Books of the World contest. Other books have also won much international acclaim, including the Egon Ervín Kisch, Vojtech Zamarovský, Prague Book Fair, Miroslav Ivanov, Slovak Culture Minister, Slovak Science Academy and Literary fund awards.

History as a bestseller – soon in your own language

The majority of the books are published within the author’s edition of illustrated Slovak history, Traces of Ancient History (written by Pavel Dvořák). The fourth book in the series is now among the best selling books on the Slovak market, including foreign bestsellers.

Source literature of Slovak history comes out in the Sources edition, portraits of historical personalities in Destinies and Portraits. The Industria edition serves large companies for their presentation and promotion.

Rak Publishing House is currently working on a new edition, PICTORIA, which, through photographs and pictures advances Slovak history to a foreign-speaking audience. More information will be soon available on webpage Pictoria.sk or in your email if you reply to the address pictoria@pictoria.sk.
